Duplicate meal
Often I find myself in the situation, that I have to create a new meal, which is pretty similar to one of my already existing meals. For example different salads, all based on the same base recipe but with different kinds of cheese, ham or whatever.
Currently, I have to reenter all the ingredients, what is pretty cumbersome if you have many ingredients and takes quite some time.
2 simple ideas for solving this issue:
- just add the possibility to duplicate a meal. The new meal can then easily be adapted.
- When creating a new meal, add the possibly to use a different meal as template.
Thanks in advance!

So 6 years later, 827 votes, no action. This is why I, like many I would guess, sacked off Lifesum (which I paid for) and went back to free version of MFP. If your model is to charge people, at the very least listen to your paying customers and respond to their dev requests

If the meal/recipe still listed all ingredients directly in the diary, it should be easy to adjust small changes, like different type of salad, dropped or added an ingredient, changed the amount slightly of something or similar. So meal is added with one tap, but still open/available for adjustments

This is a very good idea- I have a tendency to adapt and improve recipes, but sometimes you want the other one around for reference, or just for variation.

Could it also be an option to have recipes work as a template for meals so that it would be possible to select the recipe and then make adjustments in the daybook

I think some years ago this was possible and it was sooo helpful. Please bring it back

Yes please - this would be a big time saver to have in the recipe section too as I could have used this last night when making lasagna but without the meat (so identical recipe just with no meat) and it was a pain to have to recreate the recipe...not the first time either

Agree!! Used MyFitnessPall a lot and missing this so much, that i am almost eager to go back to MFP. What is more annoying then adding your food to ‘lunch’ and seeing that you put it at the wrong one (it has to be ‘diner’ as example)!!!!

Agree 100%. Is amazing that this basic feature isn’t available.

I totally agree, and the same with recipes.

I would like to add the same comment about recipes! Especially the ones provided by Lifesum that can't be edited at all.

This mean, that you can copy your favorite meals and afterwards you can change every food in that favorite meal. For Example: when you eat everyday a salad, but one day you want it with chicken, one day with cheese and nuts and one day with eggs maybe, than you can copy the meal and change the ingredients. The benefit is, that you have the new meal as a new favorite.
