Improve food database
Lifesum is prettier than the alternatives but without a reliable database of foods it's no better than a spreadsheet or even, God forbid, myfitnesspal.
- Let people take photos of the nutritional label and parse those (there are standard types around the world)
- Try to find similar foods and merge them. Where data differs, note as much.
- Make it easier to work around others' inability to interpret labels correctly (by automating de-duplication, importing bulk research data like the USDA database).
- Make it easier to use volumetric units (more easily approximated than mass). This has to be done at food creation time to make sure people think about entering it.
- Make crowd-sourced data trivial to provide. Adding foods is currently cumbersome.

Please add Pak choi, buk choi, or chinese mustard. Per milimeters, per package, grams. So I can, count my calories too.

There are so many food that are similar to eachother in the database. Can they get merged in some kind of way?
What I miss is how to see what food are «official» and which one are without nutrition information. For example when i want to register that I ate mayonnaise, several alternatives shows. When I choose one, thay are eighter green, grey or orange(?). Does this colors mean anything? Maybe the «official» product could have a green dot besides it (before we choose the food). -

It would be nice if your database of food contained generic items. Especially for vegetables or spices. That way adding something such as "steamed broccoli" can be given a generic nutritional value of how much a cup of steamed broccoli is instead of having to choose between whatever restaurants or brands version of steamed broccoli that Lifesum currently has in the database.

Ti add generic products, because I usually don't find the specific product or there are several that match the description with different amount of calories. For example, "sandwich" I konw it can be very different, but I never find the one I am really eating, and since I eat a different one each time an "average" sandwich would be very useful. The same fr "coffe" and all the products. Please let us identity fast how to find these "average" product references created always by the master or developers.

As a Asian, it's hard to find the name of the food because the name are mostly English. Should have chinese name of mandarin accessibility

Based on user's location, you could present the user with that locations cuisine & it would be great if I get the list of items. Else, you should probably mention that "this app is not applicable for India".

I appreciate your efforts for making such a wonderful app. You have already added lots of food options but least about Veg and Indian style food items. Please add more indian food items especially in veg category.
Thanks

The reason why I finish Lifesum is that I couldn't get a precise calorie counting. It must be partly because we don't have fine items of Japanese food.

Please include some basic indian food items
Which are not available
Like sada dosa , idli sambar , toast sandwich
Although people have added few, there are some basics missing like healtify.com has many basic food items
